When the moon hits your eye, like a big pizza pie, that’s amore! Remind a special someone in your life that you love them more than pizza (which means you love them A LOT). Although this card is not very practical for mailing or placing in an envelope, the 3D pizza box makes it unique and celebratory. 3D paper craft projects can oftentimes appear a bit intimidating. I can assure you this one is very simple to put together. Follow along for how to create this extra cheesy Valentine’s Day card.
Supplies:
- Cardstock Warehouse cardstock paper:
- Colorplan Rust 100lb & Sorbet Yellow 83lb
- Kraft Paper Bag 100lb
- Lessebo Colours: Cherry 100lb, Evergreen 83lb, Red Rose 83lb, Shitake 83lb, Sunflower 83lb, and White 100lb
- Cutting Machine (I’m using a Cricut)
- Adhesives
- Liquid Glue
- Tape Runner or Scor-Tape

Begin by cutting and scoring all the pieces from the linked Cricut file. If you do not have a Cricut, you can search your machine’s software for similar files by searching for things like pizza box, pizza, etc.
The original 3D pizza box is available as a ready-to-make project through Cricut Access, initially designed as a gift card holder. I modified this project and added some other images from Cricut Design Space to create this fun pop-up inspired Valentine’s Day card.
First, using your tape runner and liquid glue, glue together the Paper Bag, White, and then Cherry cardstock layers of the card’s base. The Cherry tablecloth cuts are very delicate, but the Lessebo cardstock cut them ‘as easy as pie.’ Just be careful when you are handling them.
Next, glue together the other details of the card including the ‘Love You More than Pizza’ circle and the pizza with desired toppings. Instead of the standard round pepperoni, I added some festive pepperoni hearts to emphasize the Valentine’s Day theme. If mushrooms and spinach are not your favorite toppings, they can be easily omitted. You could even use a heart-shaped pizza if you like!
Now it’s time to assemble the 3D pizza box. First, take the main piece of the box and fold it carefully along all the score lines. The Kraft Paper Bag cardstock scores very well and makes the folding very simple. Then fold the side flaps into the front of the box to fold over and lock in place. Finally, glue the small back flaps to the back of box
Take the other piece of the pizza box and fold it along the score lines. Place a tiny dot of glue on each small flap and hold them together until they’re secure. Then place the insert inside the box. Once the insert is inside the box, you can glue the deliciously cute pizza to it.
It’s almost time to see your pizza masterpiece! Next, attach the ‘Love You More than Pizza’ circle to the front piece of the box with liquid glue. With both liquid glue and tape runner, glue the 3D pizza box to the front of the card, pressing firmly to adhere. The box requires some extra gluing to hold it in place since the background of the card has some texture. You could also use hot glue for this part to make sure it is super sturdy.
With that, the 3D pizza box Valentine is ready to be shared with love! This project can easily be customized with additional wording or cardstock colors unique to the recipient. It’s the perfect Valentine for a pizza lover.
