Hi everyone! Natasha of @PoliteCreations, joining you today to share a fun butterfly card. I absolutely love butterflies, so I was in my happy place creating this card. And doesn't it make you think of spring? I am so excited for the butterflies to return! Let's get started...
Supplies:
- Cardstock Warehouse cardstock papers:
- Varying Butterfly Wings Fancy Die
- Floral Butterfly Clear Stamp Set
- Reactive Glitz Inks in French Pink and African Violet
- Black Pen
- Embellishments
- Enamel Dots
- Tools:
- Paper Inking Palette
- A Blending Brush
- Mini Misti
- Die Cutting Machine
- Paper Trimmer
- Scissors
- Adhesives:
To begin, I cut two half-inch strips of Blossom, Flame, Sunflower, and Punch Stardream Metallic cardstocks. I then cut multiple quarter-inch strips of Bright White and created an A2 panel. Paper strips are also a great way to use your paper scraps to create gorgeous backgrounds for your cards!
I then created a pattern with the cardstocks where each half-inch color strip was alternated with a quarter-inch strip of white. These were adhered with liquid glue on the A2 panel. I cut off any overhang once complete.
Using the Varying Butterfly Fancy dies, I die cut two wings from Blossom and two wings from Ultra Black. I also die cut the butterfly body from Ultra Black. NOTE: These dies emboss and cut the design into paper, so you will need to snip the edge of the wings and butterfly body that remains intact on the cardstock.
Once those were die cut, I used liquid adhesive to offset the Blossom on top of the Ultra Black to act as a shadow. I then ink blended French Pink on the wings, making the back wing blend a little darker.
I stamped a sentiment from the stamp set onto a 3.5 x 4.75 inch panel of bright white using African Violet Ink. Once that dried, I then placed my butterfly wings onto the panel using foam strips. I adhered the butterfly body using liquid adhesive and ensured that it was right against the bottom curve of the front wing. I drew antennae on with a black pen.
Now for the final assembly. I backed the butterfly panel with foam adhesive and centered that onto the striped A2 panel. As a final touch, I added two clusters of enamel dots that coordinate with the paper strips.
I hope you have enjoyed joining me today. What are you making for spring? Tag us on Facebook or Instagram, and use #cardstockwarehouse to be featured in our stories!
Happy Crafting!
