Growing up, my grandmother had the most beautiful vintage glass Christmas ornaments. I always loved the way they would catch the light on the tree and I was constantly getting in trouble for touching them. This year I wanted to make tags for my Christmas gifts that could be used as ornaments once the gifts were open. The Cardstock Warehouse Mirror paper mimics the vintage glass and is so lovely and shiny. Plus, it's nice and sturdy so I know the ornaments will hold up well. Let me show you how to make your own.
Supplies
- Cardstock Warehouse cardstock papers:
- Mirror Collection 100lb papers: Red, Green, Silver, Gold, Pink, and Blue
- Adhesives
- Bearly Art Precision Glue
- Foam Tape
- Ribbon or Twine
- Cricut Cutting Machine
- Cricut Design Space Cut Files
I designed these Cricut files to make them as easy as possible to cut and assemble. Each ornament has a base color layer, a cut out design layer, a tiny gold hanging hardware, and a gold letter monogram. You can click on the monogram letters in the Cricut Design Space file to change them to the letters you need, and you can also change the colors of the layers if you desire.
Once you have the file the way you want it, cut all your pieces using the Mirror papers. Be sure to cut on the "2X" or "cut twice" setting to make sure it cuts cleanly. I use this setting for all 100lb papers to get crisp cuts!
After your pieces are cut, assemble your layers with Bearly Art glue. Be sure not to use too much glue or it will squish out around the edges of the designs. Once the ornament bases are assembled, add your gold monogram letters to the top with foam tape. This gives the ornaments/tags some great dimension!
Once they're glued, add some ribbon, twine, or string to the holes at the top. And now you're done! These are ready to adorn your packages or Christmas tree!
