Lucky Stardream Paper Cupcake Toppers

Lucky Cupcake Toppers

Feeling lucky? My daughter was born on Friday the 13th and I’ve always considered throwing a lucky themed birthday party for her. These adorable lucky symbol cupcake toppers are perfect for any festive celebration. I primarily used Cardstock Warehouse’s dreamy Stardream Pearlescent papers for this project. I absolutely love the shimmery, magical touch they provide. Follow along for how to make these lucky cupcake toppers!

Supplies:

Begin by cutting all the topper pieces from the linked Cricut file. All the lucky images (four-leaf clover, ladybug, rainbow, horseshoe, and lucky 7 pennant) were compiled & modified from images available in Cricut Design Space. Gather the rest of your supplies and prepare to make some cute cupcake toppers.

For the first topper image, I chose a four-leaf clover and a little ladybug. With liquid glue, attach the two clover pieces cut from Stardream Fairway and Colorplan Chartreuse for additional sturdiness. Then glue together the Stardream Jupiter and Lessebo Black ladybug pieces. I just love the shimmery detail on the ladybug’s body.

I decided to use adhesive foam tape for extra dimension on some of my cupcake topper images. This is an easy way to add some pop and visual depth to your papercraft projects. Cut a small piece of foam tape, remove the protective layer, and place on the back of the ladybug. Then, attach the ladybug to the clover using some additional liquid glue if needed.

The next cupcake topper image is an Antique Gold Stardream horseshoe. Glue together the white and gold horseshoe layers with liquid glue. Cut two small pieces of foam tape for the back of the horseshoe, then place it on the Lessebo Sunflower scalloped circle. The foam tape really provides some depth and visual interest on this topper.

Then, complete the rainbow topper image by gluing the pink and purple rainbow arch together using liquid glue.

The final cupcake topper image is an adorable, teeny-tiny pennant. I chose lucky number “7” for the number, but this could be personalized for a special birthday or your own lucky number. Glue together the layers using liquid glue and add the small rectangle detail.

With a bit of luck (and glue) you’re almost done with the project! The cupcake topper images are ready for some wooden sticks.

Using your warmed hot glue gun, place a thin line of hot glue on the back of the topper image. Add on the wooden sticks while the glue is still hot. Continue this step for each of the four cupcake topper images.

Place your toppers in some homemade or store-bought cupcakes and your party is off to a lucky start!
