I am SO ready for the cold snowy days to be behind us that I’m focusing on the bright, sunny, and lemony days ahead. I made these beautiful lemonade stand carts that can be used as favor boxes, party centerpieces, or even to house some gift cards. These carts can easily be adapted for bakery carts, food stands, etc. If you imagine it, you can create it!
Materials:
- Cardstock Warehouse cardstock paper:
- Cut File: Lemonade Stand Cart
- Cutting Machine
- Bearly Arts Glue and/or Hot Glue
- Foamies, Optional
Start by downloading the SVG file and uploading it to your die cutting machine’s software and choose your colors. The colors I am using are listed above.
In this file, you’ll notice there are two pieces that each have two holes cut out, along with two strips that need to be folded and glued into poles. These poles will connect the top awning to the lid of the cart. I started here with my assembly, first folding each side of the pole pieces except for the bottoms and tops. After gluing them, I inserted each top and bottom straight through the holes and then folded the tabs downward and glued with hot glue (for an instant dry – you can absolutely use wet glue here if you prefer). The skinnier piece belongs on the top and the wider one on the bottom. Once you have this glued, you can set it aside.
Next, I glued the box part of the cart shut. This piece is super fast and simple, folding all of the dashed cut lines and then applying glue to each tab. Once the box was glued (with an open top), I set it aside.
Now we can move on to the pieces with the scalloped edges. Again, you’ll notice there are two each; a wide one and a more narrow one. You’ll also see that the yellow and pink scalloped pieces in the file have different sizes. The taller ones will be glued onto the narrow strip in whatever order you prefer, and the shorter scalloped pieces will get glued onto the bottom strip – the bigger scalloped piece. I found that it made more sense to glue all the scallop pieces on prior to folding and gluing along all of the dashed lines.
Once all of the scallop pieces have been placed onto the top and bottom strips, you can go ahead and fold along each dashed line before applying glue. Grabbing the bigger piece that belongs on the top of the box (serving as the lid), I placed it on top and then grabbed the piece connected with the two poles and glued the pieces together. Now, with the remaining scallop strip left, I glued this on the top of the piece with the two poles so we can create the awning of the stand.
At this time, you can decide if you’d like to use the cart with or without wheels. While the wheels make a beautiful “completed” look, they don’t offer enough support for heavy candy/party favors if they will be used as favor boxes – so keep that in mind. If you’d like to move forward with the wheels, I think it’s best to glue in an “L” shape and place it alongside each edge of the cart so that they are all placed at the same height, and just overall keeping the placement the same. You can also decorate your boxes as you please. I’ve included some variations of lemons and lemon slices/juice in the file, but you can choose to use other fruits or desserts to complete your look!
I added some text to my box and the wheels as I decided to keep this beauty in my craft room.
I’d love to see your decorated boxes! I hope this project inspired you to Make Something Beautiful®!
