Torn Paper Layers Greeting Card - Cardstock Warehouse

Torn Paper Layers Greeting Card

Hello Everyone. Welp, it's late August and the weather is starting to turn cool. I'm a summer girl myself, but this summer wasn't very enjoyable for me, so I'm actually looking forward to fall. What better way to welcome fall than a fall-inspired card? I brought out all the warm tones that made me think of fall. So let's get started on this quick and easy card.

Parcel Wrap, Orange Fizz, Olive, Cherry Wood Veneer, and True White Speckletone

Here is the list of supplies I used and the beautiful Cardstock Warehouse Cardstock Papers colors.

  • Speckletone Collection - True White 80lb.
  • Speckletone Collection - Olive 100lb.
  • Kraft Collection = Parcel Wrap Kraft 100lb.
  • Wood Veneer Collection - Cherry
  • Pop-Tone Collection - Orange Fizz 100lb.
  • Tape Runner or Glue
  • Brown Crystal Sequins
  • Nuvo Drops - Dark Walnut
  • Hemp Cord
  • Butterfly Embellishments
  • Distress Inks
  • Hello/Sentiment Stamp

We are going to take our Cardstock Warehouse colors and lightly tear the bottom to get a rough texture. Do this with all 4 colors and leave the Speckletone True White Color at a size of 4 1/4 X 5 1/2 inches. This is going to be our base.

Next, we are going to bring out our ink to do a distressed look on these torn pieces. You don't have to do this step, but I like the added texture you can see when this is done. The solid-core cardstock has an even color all the way through, so they look really beautiful when torn. For my ink, I just picked out coordinating colors that would pair nicely to the cardstock and lightly blended on the bottom.

Next, we are going to adhere this to our Speckletone True White Cardstock base using a tape runner, but you can use whatever you have on hand.

After we have all 4 pieces taped down, we're going to take a hemp cord and run that through the brown ink as well to give it a two-toned look. (This is optional as well.) Then we're going to wrap it around the top of our card 3 times and tie it in the back.

After we have our cord on our card, stamp your sentiment in the bottom left corner with brown ink. You can also emboss over this to make it pop!

Then we are going to add double-sided foam tape to the back of the card. Don't put tape over the hemp cord or it will make a lump on the card. Next, we'll adhere that to our card stock card base of Foundation Pure White 100lb.

After we have our panel on the base, we just have to add the finishing touches of our sequins and Nuvo Drops.
