Sewn Parchment Paper PopTaHearts

Happy February scrappy friends! It’s Neftalí back today starting off the month of love and friendship with a Valentine’s Day inspired project here at Cardstock Warehouse. If you’re like me, you love how cute and frilly this month can be. There’s pink everywhere, hearts, flowers, and candy! And well, I guess some of us use it to our girly advantage to create the cutest things. I am using three of those items to create today’s blog post project… Sewn Parchment Valentine Pop-Ta-Hearts. Like Pop-Tarts... Get it?! Okay... enough joking around...

Here’s what you’ll need to recreate these lovely valentine treats:

  • Bianco Pergamenata Parchment from Cardstock Warehouse Cardstock Papers
  • Pink Tulle
  • White Tulle
  • SpiegelMom Scraps Sequin Pack - Pink Promenade
  • Glue
  • Sewing Machine
  • Electronic Cutting Machine/ Heart Die Cut
  • Filler Candy

I began this project by using my Silhouette to cut out the hearts. For this specific project I cut out 6 hearts as I knew I wanted to make three different treats. However, you can cut up as many as you might need. Just remember you need two of each one because you need a front and a back side.

For two of the hearts, I took some pink tulle and sewed around the heart shape, like you can see below…

For the third one, I sewed the same, but just one time around, then left a little hole to slip my sequins into the pocket, and then sewed around one more time to secure it well.

After this, the process is fairly easy. I took my hearts to my sewing machine and added the second heart to the back, creating a pocket hole where my little candies could go. Before I sewed it shut, I popped in a few candies, then brought it back over to stitch it closed. I added extra stitching where I found it was needed. I just wanted to make sure the pocket I had just created didn’t break or rip. Finally I cut off the threads and done.

I must add, the parchment paper I used was PERFECTLY sheer and thick at the same time. I got the look I wanted with the slight sheerness, yet a solid piece of paper that I can trust will not rip!

Once that was done, I took my time to add sequins around the pink hearts. I really wanted these sequins to take front stage. So I took my time, and with regular craft glue, I added the gorgeous sequins!

So, here is the final look at these three sweet treats I made for my three little Valentines here at home. I hope you have been inspired to create something quick and easy, yet fun and adorable for your favorite valentine.

I would highly recommend the Pergamenata Parchment papers for creating fancy looking invitations, or cute “see-thru” treats like these, especially if you want that fabulous sheer look that won’t fold or shrivel into a roll like normal vellum would do.
