For much of the United States, Mother's Day weekend is the weekend that is deemed safe to start planting outside, as the risk of frost is usually gone. I am always very excited to get my plants in the ground, so Mother's Day is usually a day spent in the garden. This year, my family and I are hosting a tea party in our garden to celebrate some of the awesome Mama's in our family. I wanted a little something they could take with them that was more than just a standard card, and these seed pockets were just the thing!
They are super fast and easy to make, and they can be used for a number of occasions! Replace the Mother's Day sentiment with a Monogram and give them as favors at a spring wedding, write a note for your neighbor and leave one on their doorstep, stick a picture of your child on one and give it to a family member... the possibilities are endless! You can also replace the seed packets with tea bags, chocolate bars, gift cards, etc!
To start, you will need the following supplies:
- 4.25" x 9" Cardstock Warehouse Cardstock Papers (to make the pocket)
- 3" x 4" sentiment, photo or cardstock (for decoration)
- thin double-sided tape (We recommend Scor-Tape)
- scoring tool + mat
- ruler
- scissors
Place scor-tape on the back of the 3" x 4" sentiment or picture. Attach this with the design upright to the top of a 4.25" x 9" sheet of cardstock, about 1/8" from each side. I used Pop-Tone Bubblegum Pink, Pop-Tone Berrylicious Blue, and Construction Timber Green.
Next, score about 1/8" from the bottom of the sentiment, and fold the flap over to create the pocket.
**Scoring the paper before you fold is crucial to get a clean and crisp fold! For more details on scoring, check out our Paper 101 page on cutting and scoring!
Place scor-tape on the sides of the flap only, and fold and attach. Ta-da! It's just that easy! You can now stuff your paper pockets with whatever you like!
