Leprechaun Hat 3D Paper Gift Box

Leprechaun Hat Gift Box

Can you believe we’re already preparing to celebrate March holidays? It feels like 2025 just started. I have a really cool St. Patrick’s Day Project for you. It’s a cute hat that can be used as decor, hold some treats or a gift card.

Materials:

Once you’ve uploaded the file, you’ll notice there is a design on the gold coins set to “deboss.” If you’re using a Cricut Explore or a Maker but don’t have the tip (#21), you’ll need to change that to “score” and use a stylus (or wheel if using the Maker). Now you’re all set to cut. I used the colors listed above for my pieces. I’m using Stardream and Mirror paper for my box because they are super sturdy for 3D projects, and you can’t beat that shine! Since all of these papers are 100 lb or higher, I use the double-cut setting to ensure my cuts come out clean.

I decided to start my project by assembling the main portion of the hat. Once I folded along all of the scored tabs, I glued the panels on top of each section. I glued the two side tabs together to close off the shape and then set it aside.

Next, I moved onto the top part of the hat that would close it up and make it look more complete. I folded along the tabs and began gluing. I started with one tab and allowed it to dry. Once that one was in place, I glued about 2-3 tabs at a time and continued until they were all complete. After the black panel was completely in place, I added the green mirror cardstock.

Now that the top half of the gift box is done, let’s move on to the base. Like we did earlier, you’ll want to fold along the scored tabs. I started with the bottom portion and the tabs that were cut and would be glued inside. After those were in place, I folded the top part of the tabs down and then added green mirror paper decorative panels.

Next, I grabbed the first hat piece we earlier worked on and glued those tabs to the walls of the inside to create more stability. This is the part that will slide in and out of the base to create the box.

Finally, we’re moving on to the bottom of the box. You’ll notice one of the two ovals is scored – this is so we can place the green decorative layer over it, while also ensuring we can glue the gift holder piece perfectly in the middle. Once the green layer is glued onto the first oval, I went ahead and added glue to the second oval and layered them together so we can have a sturdy base. Next I glued the gift holder piece into the octagon.

Now you can place the main hat piece into the base and add the buckle to the front. It’s completely optional if you’d like to add foamies. I did because we've already established in my past blogs how much I love to give my items depth, lol!

Our very last step is to add embellishments. You can glue the clovers and coins however you would like. You can also add a name or whatever you wish. Now your box is ready to be filled with goodies and delivered!
