Oh deer, it’s that time of year! ;-) My favorite time of year has arrived! I have the cutest box for you that’s perfect as a gift box on its own or a replacement for traditional hanging stockings.
Materials:
- Cardstock Warehouse cardstock papers:
- Stardream 105lb: Jupiter, Bronze
- Colorplan 100lb: Harvest, Stone, Ebony
- Woodstock 105lb: Comoscio, Cipria
- MirriSparkle 104lb: Black Diamond, Gold Touch
- SVG Cutting File: Reindeer Cracker Box
- Cutting Machine
- Adhesives
- Bearly Arts Glue
- Foamies
- Ribbon (optional)
Start by downloading the file linked above. Once you’ve uploaded the SVG, you’ll have to attach the dashed cut lines to the box before cutting. You can make this as big or as small as you’d like, just keep the project grouped together when resizing. I am using the Stardream collection for most of my pieces because they are so pretty and are perfect for holiday crafts! When all of your pieces are cut, it’s time to begin.
To start assembly, let’s grab the base of the template box. You’ll notice dashed cut lines that you’ll want to fold along. Once all sides and tabs of the boxes are folded, glue the tabs to the underside of each side panel. We’ll spend the majority of our time assembling the reindeer face, so let’s go ahead and get some of the faster pieces out of the way.
Next, we’ll then go ahead and layer the name and set it aside. Adding a name is totally optional but I think it’s perfect for the receiver of the box to see, especially when paired with beautiful shimmery paper. Feel free to add as many layers as you’d like to make it stand out if deciding to layer. I glued my individual letters to the black glitter and then used a foamie to create depth. Once the name was assembled, I added another foamie and adhered it to the box towards the bottom.
Now that our box and name are complete, we can go ahead and add the ribbon. Originally I wanted to tie it up and create a cute bow, but I soon realized it would not work with the reindeer antlers - so, I decided to glue the ends towards the front of each side so they hang down when completed but without interfering with the antlers.
It’s time for our cute reindeer face! I’ve laid out the order in which the layers go, although you can glue from last layer to first, or first to last. I chose to start with the final layer and work my way up to the first. I used Bearly Art glue for each layer. Once completed, we’ll repeat for the eyes.
Similar to the name, I decided to add a foamie to add depth, but also because I wanted the eyes to sit “behind” the glasses, and unless you leave 1-2 layers out, they would line up evenly with the layers. Once I attached the foamie, I adhered it to the box and then glued the eyes with liquid glue.
I’d love to see a full Christmas collection of Santa, a snowman, and maybe even an elf! :) If you'd like to create other characters, you can use the box base and add your own details to the front. These are so fun to fill with gifts and treats and then see the excitement on your recipients face when you give it to them!
