Dry Erase Christmas Countdown Calendar

Dry Erase Christmas Countdown Calendar

As a mom of two littles, I'm always on the lookout for fun ways to countdown to Christmas, and if I can reuse it year after year it's even better. I feel like this project was made for me with how straightforward and easy it was; all it takes is a cute design behind a picture frame and you've got a wipeable countdown to Christmas!

Supplies you'll need:

  • Cardstock Warehouse Cardstock Papers in Red Wagon , China White, Lockwood Green, Brown Box Kraft, Candy Pink, Black Licorice, and Pure White
  • 11x14 or 8x10 Frame
  • Sharpie
  • Glue Dots
  • Scissors
  • Zig Glue Pen
  • Cricut Cutting Machine

First I found this super cute Santa image in the Cricut database that I had for free with my monthly subscription, but you can also just purchase that particular project if you'd like. You'll want to size it to fit the paper you'll be using. For example, most of my paper was only 8.5x11 so I knew there couldn't be one part of the cut bigger than that. I also decided I was too lazy to individually glue the letters for the, “Santa stops here in ___ days,” so I ungrouped the image. I then searched for “Santa” in the image files to see if I could find a cute cursive “Santa” and found this cute calligraphy one! There’s no way I could've made one that cute! For the rest of the wording I decided I could just have my Cricut write out the message instead of cut, and then fill it in later. To do that I just selected ‘TEXT’ and the font I liked, typed out the phrase, and moved it where I wanted it to be located on the bag. Once you have all the positioning right, select the ag and the text and press ‘ATTACH.’

Now just cut out all your pieces and adhere them in the order needed. One (semi)PRO tip for adhering glitter cardstock is using Glue Dots since glitter can be tricky!

Once you've glued all the pieces together, fill in the font (if needed) with your Sharpie.

Now you should have an adorable Santa design that just needs to be fixed onto a background to frame. One resource that I always use to make sure I have just the right size paper is the paper insert often included in a picture frame to trace out the paper needed. But you probably already knew that one, who am I kidding!? When you have the proper sized paper, glue down Santa and insert it into the frame.

Now you've got a wipeable surface that you can use with any whiteboard marker to countdown the days until Christmas! You could even leave it up year-round if you feet so inclined. Haven’t you always wanted to be that person that reminds people, “It’s only 256 days until Christmas!”?
