With the end of school fastly approaching, I wanted to make my son’s teacher something special to show her how much she means to us.
GETTING STARTED
For this project I used Cardstock Warehouse Cardstock Papers in Lemon Drop, Oatmeal, Real Grey, Bubblegum and Sirio Ultra Black. I also used hot glue, a 12x12 shadow box, and a quilling tool.
After choosing your paper, open up your Cricut design space app and open a new project. Select images and search 3D flowers. I used 3D Flower #M3D7E1 for this project. I then changed my measurements to 6”x5.6”. This will make your flowers about 1” each. I then duplicated this image 27 times, making sure each image matches my color scheme I’m using. For my project I made 3 flowers black, 3 flowers oatmeal, 12 flowers yellow, 3 grey and 6 pink.
CONSTRUCTING YOUR FLOWERS
After all my pieces are cut out, it’s time to start twirling them into flowers. To do this, I used the quilling tool by Cricut. Slide the end of your flower piece into the top of your tool.
Carefully start twisting your paper while pulling tightly and keeping your edges straight.
Once you have it all twirled around your tool, carefully slide it off the tool and add a dab of glue to the bottom while placing your extra flap piece to help it hold together.
Once you have completed each flower, line up your flowers to make a pencil. To help hold it to the background I was using I used a dab of hot glue to each flower and glued it to my background. Once you have glued all your flowers down, you can now frame it in your shadow box!
